Instructions to authors

Teksti: 1. Teksti aloitetaan aina suoraan vasemmasta reunasta ilman sisennyksiä.

2. Marginaaleiksi asetetaan ylä- ja alareuna 2,5 ja vasen ja oikea 2.

3. Teksti ja lähdeluettelo kirjoitetaan rivivälillä 1,5 ja fontilla Times New Roman 12 pt.

4. Rivinvaihto-lyöntiä käytetään vain kappaleen lopussa. Kappaleet erotetaan toisistaan kahdella välilyönnillä, samoin väliotsikot kappaleista.

5. Kirjoittajan tulee itse asettaa väliotsikot tekstiinsä.

6. Artikkelin alkuun kirjoittaja laatii lyhyen ingressin, joka lihavoidaan.

Muotoilut:

1. Tekstiä saa muotoilla vain kirjoitusohjeiden mukaan. EI oikean laidan tasausta, EI henkilönimien kursivointia tai lihavointia, EI sivunumerointia.

2. Kursivointia käytetään

- Kirjojen, lehtien ja julkaisusarjojen nimissä - Kirjoituskieleen nähden vieraskielisissä termeissä - Sitaateissa (myös lainausmerkit kursivoidaan)

3. Ruotsin- ja englanninkieliset sitaatit kirjoitetaan alkuperäiskielellä. Muiden kielten kohdalla sitaatit käännetään suomeksi.

4. Numeroiden väliin tulevat viivat merkitään pitkinä ilman välilyöntejä. Virallisten ohjeiden mukainen ajatusviiva on näin pitkä —.

Viittaaminen, lähteet ja kirjallisuus:

1. Lähdeviitteet merkitään alaviitteinä. Ne kirjoitetaan rivivälillä 1 ja fontilla Times New Roman 10 pt.

2. Kirjallisuusviitteisiin merkitään vain kirjoittajan sukunimi, julkaisuvuosi ja viitatut sivut.

3. Saman viitteen eri lähteet erotetaan puolipisteellä ja eri kirjoittajat yhdistetään & -merkillä.

4. Muuhun aineistoon viitataan artikkeliin sopivalla johdonmukaisella tavalla, niin että dokumentti on mahdollista jäljittää.

5. Artikkelin loppuun liitetään lähde- ja kirjallisuusluettelo. Siinä erotellaan arkistolähteet (painamattomat lähteet), painetut lähteet ja kirjallisuus.

Kuvitus ja graafiset esitykset: 1. Kirjoittajan tulee itse selvittää kuvien käyttöoikeudet. Kuvista aiheutuneita kustannuksia ei korvata.

2. Kirjoittaja laatii itse kuvatekstin, jossa ilmoitetaan myös kuvan lähde. Kuvateksti lähetetään erillisenä tiedostona sähköpostitse.

3. Kuvat toimitetaan skannattuina EPS-, TIF- tai JPG -muodossa. Kuvia ei saa liittää artikkelin tekstitiedostoon. Värikuvat skannataan musta-valkoisina resoluutiolla 300 dpi ja piirrokset vähintään resoluutiolla 600 dpi.

4. Kuvitus lähetetään joko sähköpostitse tai Cd-levyllä osoitteeseen Itä-Suomen Yliopisto/ Joensuun kampus pl 111 80101 Joensuu, Historia- ja maantieteen laitos/ Jani Karhu

5. Graafiset esitykset, kuten taulukot ja kuviot, numeroidaan juoksevasti. Kuvion yms. numero ja nimi sijoitetaan haluttuun kohtaan artikkelin tekstitiedostoon, mutta varsinainen kuvio toimitetaan erillisenä tiedostona joko sähköpostitse tai Cd-levyllä. Mikäli kyseessä ei ole alkuperäinen graafinen esitys, on lähde ilmoitettava.

Muuta tärkeää:

1. Artikkelin mukana lähetetään julkaisuun painettava lyhyt esittely kirjoittajasta (esim. titteli, oppiaine, laitos, tutkimusaihe, väitöskirjan / lisensiaatintyön nimi ja tarkastusajankohta).

2. Mukaan liitetään myös puhelinnumero sekä postiosoite, johon Lähteen voi lähettää.

3. Jos artikkelin kirjoitus peruuntuu, on siitä viipymättä ilmoitettava päätoimittajalle.

4. Lähde ei sitoudu julkaisemaan toimitusaikataulusta myöhästyneitä tai vastoin kirjoitusohjeita tehtyjä tekstejä.

5. Kirjoittaja antaa toimituskunnalle oikeudet artikkelin editointiin (myös ylipitkän artikkelin lyhentämiseen) ja suostuu tarvittaessa itse tekemään pyydetyt korjaukset toimitusaikatauluun sitoutuen.

Instructions to authors

Lähde publishes articles, shorter essays, columns, discussions, replies and reviews. Articles (including bibliography) should be around twenty pages long. The texts can be written in Finnish, English or in Swedish.

Text: 1. Text should be started from left without indention.

2. Margins: top and bottom 2,5; left and right 2.

3. Line spacing for the text and bibliography 1.5 and font Times New Roman 12 pt.

4. Paragraphs should be separated from each other and from the sub-headings with two spacings.

5. The author should set the sub-headings to the text.

6. At the beginning of the article, the author shall write a short lead with bold letters.

Text styling:

1. The text can be styled only within these instructions. NO align text to the right, NO italicizing of names, NO page numbers.

2. Italic for

- Names of books, journals or series of publications

- Terms that are not written in the language of the text.

- Quotations (also the quotation marks should be italicized)

3. Quotations from Swedish, Finnish or English texts are written in the original language. With other languages, the quotation should to be translated to the language of the text.

4. Dash between the numbers is long without spaces 5—5.

Referral, source material and literature:

1. References should be mentioned in the footnotes. They are written with line spacing 1 and with font Times New Roman 10 pt.

2. In the literature references the surname of the author the publication year and pages referred to are mentioned: Karhu 2011, 4—7.

3. In the same footnote different references are separated with a semicolon and different authors are connected with &-sign: Karhu 2011; Kumpulainen & Kuusisto 2010 57—87.

4. Other sources are referred to with a consistent style so that the documents can be traced.

5. Bibliography and a list of source material are added to the end of the text. Unprinted sources, printed sources and literature should be separated.

Illustrations and diagrams:

1. The author is responsible for the right to use the pictures. Lähde will not compensate for any possible costs of the pictures.

2. The author shall write captions, where the source of the pictures are also mentioned. The caption shall be send as a separate document via email to the chief editor.

3. The pictures should be sent in EPS, TIF or JPG formats. They should not be added in the text document. Colour pictures are to be scanned black and white with resolution 200 dpi and drawings in at least resolution 600 dpi.

4. Illustrations should be sent either via email or in a CD disk to Jani Karhu/Department of Geographical and Historical Studies/University of Eastern Finland/Joensuu Campus/P.O.BOX 111/80101 Joensuu

5. Graphs, like diagrams or charts should be organised in current numbering. The number and name of the graph should be placed in the text document, but the actual graph should be sent in its own document either via email or in a CD disk. The source of the graph should be mentioned.

Important:

1. A short introduction of the author(s) should be sent with the text. This could include for example title or degree, subject and institution/department as well as subjects of research and possibly the name of the doctoral dissertation.

2. Contact information (phone number and postal address) should be added, so that we can send you the published journal.

3. If, for any reason, you cannot provide the text, the chief editor should be noted immediately.

4. Lähde is not pledging to publish texts that are late from the deadlines or are not following the author’s guidelines.

5. the author is giving the editing team right to edit the text (also to shorten too long texts) and agrees to make asked corrections in given time. If you have anything to ask, please do not hesitate to contact the chief editor, Jani Karhu jani.karhu (at) uef.fi
