Vuonna 2012 Lähteen teemana on Identiteetti. Teemaa toivotaan lähestyttävän uusia ajatuksia herättävästi tai vanhoja näkökulmia kriittisesti tarkastellen. Artikkeleissa teemaa voi lähestyä niin yhteisön, yksilön, identiteettipolitiikan kuin esimerkiksi paikkojen identiteettien kautta. Myös identiteetin tarkastelu ympäristön tai kulttuurin muutosten näkökulmasta tarjoaa hyvän lähtökohdan ensi vuoden Lähteeseen tarjottaville artikkeleille. Julkaistavat kirjoitukset voivat olla tieteellisiä artikkeleita, lyhyempiä katsauksia, esseitä tai teemaan liittyviä kirja-arvosteluja. Kirjoittaja voi edustaa mitä tieteenalaa tahansa. Kirjoittajille ei makseta palkkioita. Kirjoitustarjouksien jättämisen määräaika on 15.11.2011. Kirjoitustarjous tehdään laatimalla ytimekäs, korkeintaan kahden liuskan mittainen abstrakti aiotusta artikkelista tai kirjoituksesta, ja lähettämällä se sähköpostitse osoitteeseen jani.karhu@uef.fi. Abstraktista on käytävä ilmi artikkelin tai kirjoituksen tavoitteet, aineisto, menetelmät ja keskeiset hypoteesit. Lisätietoja kirjoittamisesta antaa tarvittaessa Jani Karhu. Mikäli kirjoitustarjous hyväksytään, on valmiin tekstin deadline perjantai 30.3.2012.

Call for papers: IDENTITY Lähde (”The Source”) is an annually published scientific journal, established in 2004 by postgraduate students of history in Joensuu University (currently University of Eastern Finland). It is directed especially for the postgraduates and researchers in historical sciences, but accepts texts also from other fields of study. It aims to offer particularly young researchers and postgraduate students an opportunity to publish their texts, to discuss one theme from various points of view in each journal and to combine critical scientific writing with first-rate illustration. In previous years Lähde has published articles under the themes of immigration, death, morals and otherness among others. The theme for Lähde 2012 is identity. We invite papers on all related topics, including identity and society, individual, politics and spaces or different aspects of environment and culture. The papers can be scientific articles, shorter overviews, essays or book reviews related to the theme. We encourage innovative and critical discussions over identity within history or any other discipline. The writers of the papers are not to be paid. To offer a paper to be published, a short abstract (maximum two pages) is expected, where the contributor introduces the aims of the text, the material and methods used as well as the main hypotheses. The deadline for abstracts is on 15th of November 2011. The abstracts should be send to the editor in chief, Jani Karhu jani.karhu(at)uef.fi. If the text is accepted, the final deadline for the paper will be on Friday 30th March, 2012.
